Hermione

Hermione is a name of Greek origin with a rather ambiguous meaning. It is related to Hermes, the God of travellers (among other things). Its meaning is variously given as relating to travel, relating to pillars (as in the herms for boundary marking) and also as "messenger" and "earthly".

Variants: Erma, Herma, Hermia, Hermine, Herminia, Hermione

In Greek Mythology Hermione was the daughter of Helen and Menelaus of Sparta. She is also a character in Shakespeare's play "A Winter's Tale" and J K Rowling's "Harry Potter" series.
