Leonidas is a boy's name that comes to us from ancient Greek history. Leonidas was a King of Sparta who held off the Persian army at Thermopylae with only 300 men. Movies have been made about this recently but the bards have sung of it for generations. The name Leonidas means "strong like a lion".
