The name Lilith is of Assyrian origin meaning "of the night".

According to Jewish legend, Lilith was Adam's first wife who was replaced because she would not submit to his authority. Lilith is the name of a storm demon, associated with the screech owl and a vampire-like demon who preys on infants.
