Acantha -Acantha was a nymph loved by the Greek God Apollo who was turned into a tree. Her name means "thorn" or "prickle".

Achilles -Achilles was a hero of the Trojan war. He was killed by an arrow that pierced his heel, the only vulnerable part of his body. The name Achilles may have derived from the Greek "achos" meaning pain.
Achilles gave his name to a genus of plants commonly called yarrow, bloodwort or allheal. According to the legend, he used this plant to heal his soldiers' wounds. Common yarrow or solder's woundwort Achillea millefolium is used by herbalists to treat bruising and inflammation.

Adekagagwaa -Adekagagwaa is the Iroquois spirit of summer.

Adraste -Feminization of Adrastos, meaning "one who stands his ground" or "not inclined to run away".

Adrasteia -Adrasteia is a Greek name and an epithet of Nemesis. It means "the inescapable one" or "one who cannot be turned.".

Agammemnon -Agammemnon was a hero of the Trojan war. After his victorious return, he was killed by his wife Clytemnestra, sister of Helen. The name means "steadfast"

Agaue -Agaue was the mother of Pentheus in Greek myth. The name means "illustrious" or "noble".

Aglea -The name Aglaia means "splendor". She was one of the three Graces in Greek lore.

Agrona -Agrona is an old Celtic name meaning "battle, slaughter". It was the name of the Brythonic Goddess of war and death.

Ailill -The name Ailill appears frequently in Celtic lore. It was the name of the husband of Queen Meabh. The name means "elf" in Irish Gaelic.
