Alecto -Alecto is the name of one of the furies or Erineyes of Greek lore. Her name means "unceasing".

Alf -Alf was the name of a king of Norse legend who was rejected by the maiden he loved. She was so determined to avoid the marriage that she disguised herself as a warrior and went off to war.

Althea -From the Greek word for healing, Althea is the name of the mother of Meleager. She was told on her son's birth that when a bit of firewood was fully consumed he would die. The word althea also refers to soothing medicinal herbs of the mallow family.

Amalthea -Amalthea was the name of the goat who nursed the infant Zeus. This name means "to soften" or "soothe".

Ammon -Ammon is an Greco-Egyptian name meaning hidden or "the hidden one"

Amun -Amun or Amon is one of the most important ancient Egyptian Gods

Andraste -Boudicca invoked the Goddess Andraste before her revolt against Rome. The name means "invincible".

Andromeda -Andromeda was a princess saved from sacrifice by Perseus. It is also the name of a constellation and the name given to the galaxy closest to our own.

Ares -Ares is the Greek God of violent war. The name means "battle strife".

Argos -The name Argos is featured in many Greek myths. It is the name of a many eyed monster that served Hera, the name of Odysseus's loyal dog and the Argo is the ship that the Argonauts sailed on. The name means "bright".

Ariadne -The name Ariadne means "very holy one". According to Greek myth, Ariadne helped Theseus escape the Minotaur only to be abandoned by him later. But she was rescued by Dionysus who made her his wife.
