About the name Cassandra
Cassandra was a Trojan princess loved by Apollo who granted her the gift of prophecy but when she spurned him he cursed her that no one would ever believe her. She was captured in the Trojan war by Agammemnon who took her home to be his bride. His wife Clytemnestra killed her. And him. Her name means "she who shines above men", or something like that. From the Greek kekasmai "to shine, to excel". Or perhaps it means, "She who stitches men together" from kassuo "to sew".
