Sparta is the name of a famous Greek city that in ancient times was a city state known for its powerful warriors and strong women famously home to Helen of Sparta.

According to Plutarch “‘When a woman from Attica asked ‘Why is it that you Spartans are the only women who can rule men?’ Gorgo replied, ‘Because we are the only ones who give birth to men.’”
